This morning, I was awaken by the aroma of sweet Filipino goodness.  Longanisa is the staple Filipino breakfast sausage. It's juicy, sweet, tangy and is infused with garlic.

Longanisa brings me back to wonderful childhood memories of early mornings when my Papa and I would accompany my lola (grandmother) to the wet market. There, I would carefully listen as lola haggled with her meat suki (vendor she has been buying from for years)  who's stall was adorned with strings of longanisa hung like streamers from ceiling racks.

  2. @Curvy Smurfette, Longanisa really is great. I encourage you to try it. It's best paired with sunny-side eggs and garlic fried rice (heat a tbsp of oil, saute some chopped garlic, throw in some day old rice.. mix... mix ... mix.... mix some more... then add a dash of salt... then mix again). Most Oriental grocery stores carry Longanisa in their freezers. A package with 10-12 pieces costs no more than $3.00.

Thanks for commenting and for following my page. I was ecstatic when I found out that someone other than myself has landed on my page.
